Naperville Grad has just announced their top 10 best places for new college grads, and nearby Naperville has earned a spot on that list! The list was compiled using the following criteria:
• Number of 25- to 34-year-olds
• Unemployment rate
• Rental vacancy
• Rental costs
• Non-service jobs (better paying jobs)
• Public transportation users
• 25- to 34-year-olds with a bachelor’s degree or higher
• Bars and restaurants per capita
Naperville took the number nine spot on this list for its small-town charm and big-city amenities. Just 30 miles from Chicago, Naperville is an ideal setting for young professionals who feel more comfortable in a suburban environment but want quick access to the offerings of a major metropolis. With companies including technology firms, energy companies, retailers and factories, there’s plenty of non-service jobs available to utilize a newly earned degree. New grads will also find that Naperville’s a smart place: more than 66 percent of 25- to 34-year-olds in Naperville hold bachelor’s degrees or higher.
When it comes to real estate, Naperville has a wide variety of rental properties, many of which cost less than 30 percent of an average resident’s annual income. That’s good news, as there’s plenty else to spend that earned cash on when it comes to fun in the area, with a quaint downtown, scenic community parks and over 260 restaurants.
