With jellybeans, eggs and bunnies, Easter is a great way to celebrate spring and enjoy making memories as a family. Whether your Easter tradition includes an annual photo with the Easter Bunny or searching for Easter eggs, residents of McHenry County communities will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy some holiday fun.
Located approximately an hour-and-a-half from Chicago, here are some opportunities to celebrate this Easter in McHenry County:
Kiddos and Fidos Easter Egg Hunt: Do you have a pet dog? Let him/her join in on the Easter fun with the annual Kiddos and Fidos Easter Egg Hunt at Bill Valley Dog Park in Woodstock. Hosted by the Stickney House Foundation, this unique Easter egg hunt will be held on April 12 and costs $4 per person. Children begin hunting eggs at 1 p.m. with small dogs following at 1:30 p.m. and larger dogs starting at 2 p.m. Peter Cottontail himself will also be making an appearance to pose for photos with children and their four-legged companions.
Easter Egg Hunt in Lake in the Hills: This Saturday, April 12, the Village of Lake in the Hills will be hosting its annual Easter Egg Hunt at Sunset Park. Beginning at 8 a.m., children will have the opportunity to fill up their Easter baskets with plastic eggs full of treats. In addition to searching for eggs, children will have the opportunity to enjoy a quick visit with the Easter Bunny, perfect for snapping a quick photo. This event is FREE and will take place rain or shine. Sunset Park is located at 5200 Miller Road.
Jaycees 50th Annual Egg Hunt: Also in Woodstock, help the Jaycees celebrate their 50th Annual Egg Hunt by joining in the fun on Sunday, April 13 from noon to 2 p.m. This FREE family event will be Emricson Park and offers four egg hunts for various age groups. Additionally, the Easter Bunny will make his appearance at 12:30 p.m. escorted by the Woodstock Fire & Rescue Department. Games, face painting and coloring will also be available to attendees.
Lunch with the Bunny: Children and their parents are invited to join the Easter Bunny for lunch on Saturday, April 19 at Old Towne Hall in Crystal Lake. From 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., attendees will enjoy a hot buffett lunch, FREE photos with the bunny, entertainments, games, prize drawings and more. Additionally, each child will receive a soft, cuddly animal, as well as a treat box filled with toys and candy. Tickets to Lunch with the Bunny are $12 per person ages two and up.
