One of the most talked about dog parks is located right in the heart of Lincoln Park. Wiggly Field features a large fenced in area that is suitable to dogs of all sizes, and there is a double gate to prevent escaping pooches. The park has three distinct areas: time out area, play area and an area to train your dog. Forget your “poop” bag at home? No problem; they are available at the park as well! Even though it is cold outside, walking your dog to the park allows them to get exercise and a chance to play in the snow. But, don’t forget about this park in summer time. There are plenty of trees for shade, pools and running water. If you are new to the neighborhood and have a dog, walk on over to Wiggly Field. Not only will your dog make new friends, but so will you!
Another great dog park in the city is Grant Bark Park. If you live in the area and are willing to walk a little bit farther, this dog park is well worth it. It is surrounded by an 18,000-square-foot fence and is in the famous Grant Park. Even if you work during the day and can’t take your dog to the park at not, it is not a problem since there are lights inside the park. Like most dog parks, this one has poop bags, water and places for owners to sit. Owners will enjoy the park as well thanks to the spectacular view of the city.
Whether you live in the city or the suburbs, this next dog park is rated as one of the top in the Chicago area. Prairie Wolf Dog Exercise Area is located in Lake Forest and it is well worth the 30 minute drive if you live in the city. Your dog will be in heaven once you take them off of the leash to explore this magnificent park. Inside the fenced area, you will find hiking paths, a lake that your dog can swim in during the summer and a mixture of open fields and woods. A bonus feature found in this park is the water hose in the front, which allows you to wash off any dirt before your dog goes back in the car. There is a $10 fee for non-Lake County residents and a $5 fee for Lake County residents. It is well worth the cost for all of the fun that your dog will experience!
There are multiple benefits for both you and your dog when you take them out for a walk or go to the dog park. Walking is great exercise for you and your dog and should know no season. Walk on over to your local dog park and enjoy the crisp Chicago air while knowing that you are giving your dog the love and attention that they need.
