Use, ReStore, Help Others

Feeling charitable? Here’s an opportunity for you to donate your gently used home improvement and building materials and help people in need.
Starting this Saturday, and then the last Saturday of each month, a Habitat for Humanity ReStore donation truck will be accepting donations at the Ziegler’s Ace Hardware, 481 N. Randall Rd., Lake in the Hills.
Habitat for Humanity of Northern Fox Valley builds homes in the northern portion of Kane County for families in need who do not qualify for a conventional mortgage. The homes are built by volunteers and then sold at no profit, and the families receive a zero-interest mortgage.
ReStore Elgin is a 40,000-square-foot building material reuse center that raises money to build the homes as well as provides low-cost materials to those who can’t otherwise afford them.
ReStore accepts discontinued product lines, display materials, furniture, appliances and other truly reusable building materials. Items might be tax deductible. Check with the store to see what your materials will be accepted before going.
