Recently, we reported that Emerald was the Pantone color of the year, but we know the rich, darker tone isn’t for everyone. If softening and providing warmth to the look of your Chicago real estate is part of your remodeling plan, then you’re in luck because pastels are back!
Sherwin Williams chose “Aloe,” a soothing minty green, as their 2013 color of the year. This lighter shade looks great when paired with brighter, more saturated colors such as chartreuse and coral. Aloe is also a good paint choice for a dining room or a gender-neutral nursery.
Benjamin Moore selected Lemon Sorbet, a charming shade that while a little brighter than a typical cream hue, still offers the calming effect provided by pastels. The paint company said they chose yellow because it represents optimism, which is a great feeling to embrace as the economy and housing market both strengthen!
Lemon Sorbet is a solid choice for any room in the house, but especially kitchens or living areas where families frequently come together. The color could be used to give a new look to tables, chairs or even bookcases and also goes well with its complements green, orange and even what has been described as the new neutral, soft gray.
Since there are still a few more months of winter, why not use these colors to add some springtime warmth to your home?
