Chicago new homes owner eventsThe Chicago Park District is hosting Nature Oasis: Family Camping from Saturday, September 8 at 2 p.m. through Sunday, September 9 at 10 a.m. at Gompers Park, 4222 W. Foster Ave., Chicago.
Learn basic camping principles, take a nature hike, enjoy a campfire and sleep in a tent, and you barely have to pack a thing.
The fee is $50 per family, and what you get in return are sleeping bags, tents, dinner and breakfast and security.

If you prefer the comfort of your own bed but still want to get out and do something this weekend, here are some other events around Chicagoland:
Chicago Neighborhood Tour: Visit Beverly, Chicago’s historic Irish neighborhood, and get a behind-the-scenes look at architecture by Frank Lloyd Wright and Walter Burley Griffin, a 19th-century mansion not normally open to the public and the Vanderpoel Collection of American Art on Saturday, Sept. 8 from 10-2:30 p.m. Check in at 9:30 a.m. at the Chicago Cultural Center, 77 E. Fall Design Center Sample Sale: Find pieces from the top names in furniture, area rugs, fabrics, lighting, accessories, outdoor and more at a savings of up to 75 percent at the Design Center at the Merchandise Mart, 222 Merchandise Mart Plaza, Chicago, floors 6 and 15-18. Hours are Friday, Sept. 7, 9 a.m.-5 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9, 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Admission is free.
Renegade Craft Fair: This 10th annual fair will feature hundreds of indie craft makers, interactive workshops, a pop-up vintage market, live music and more in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood along Division Street between Damon and Paulina on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9, 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Admission is free.
Antiques and Treasures in the Field: More than 50 dealers from across the Midwest will be selling their goodies on Sunday, September 9 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Deerpath Middle School, 95 W. Deerpath, Lake Forest. Admission is $10, children are free; proceeds benefit the local chapter of the Infant Welfare Society.
Festival de La Vilita: Chicago’s Hispanic community will celebrate Mexico’s independence from Spain and South-of-the-Border culture at the 23rd annual Festival de La Vilita (Little Village Festival) at 2600 S. Kostner in the Little Village neighborhood on Friday, Sept. 7, 6-10 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 8-9, 2-11 p.m. A parade steps off at noon on Sunday at 3100 W. Albany.
Fall Harvest Festival: This event, on Saturday, Sept. 8, 1-4 p.m. at the Kilbourn Park Organic Greenhouse, 3501 N. Kilbourn Ave., Chicago, celebrates the summer garden and its bounty and will include organic gardening demonstrations, hands-on crafts and cooking demonstrations. Admission is $2 per person.
