TREND: Pops of Pink
According to that famous groundhog, we are in for six more weeks of winter. Honestly, being from Central PA, it’s not really a surprise. That’s why I’ve found ways to battle the winter blues. Being forced inside due to the cold and snow is always a good excuse to tackle nagging indoor projects before the sun returns and we desperately want to be outside.
One technique I use to add a little joy is to inject pops of color into my spaces. Now, I know this may sound surprising coming from a guy, but one of my favorite colors to bring energy into a room is pink. And I don’t mean just any pink. I’m talking bright, cheerful magenta. I’m certain it has happiness-inducing properties.
I’m not advocating painting your walls pink like Elle Woods from Legally Blonde. I’m going for a pop of pink. When I saw this picture of an office area in a living room, I was immediately attracted to the desk. Not only is the detail amazing, but the perfect dose of color may actually make a person want to do some work. Right? Granted, the gorgeous window view helps too.
Magenta can be a scary color, so I thought I would share a few of my favorite accessories and furnishings to help you get started. Even something as simple as a pillow or desk accessories can add the pizzazz needed to really make your space sing.
With a little courage, you’ll be trying to soak up all the color that you can. What color is your favorite for injecting new life and fun into a room? Or what color scares you the most?
Here’s hoping Punxsutawney Phil was wrong and that things start warming up sooner than later.
Happy decorating, friends!
