Finish Your Taxes? Enjoy the Weekend!

You could spend the weekend doing your taxes or spring cleaning your Chicago real estate, or you can attend a home show and come up with a plan to really spruce things up.
The Chicago Home Show will be in South Cook County this weekend and will feature hundreds of local contractors and industry professionals to help with the rehab, repair or renovation of your home.
There will also be cooking demonstrations, free drawings and giveaways and more at the event, where parking and admission are free.

When: Saturday and Sunday, April 14-15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Georgio’s Comfort Inn, 159th Street at 88th Avenue, between LaGrange Road (45) and Harlem Avenue (43).

Here are some other events going on around the Chicago area this weekend:
Multi-Chamber Extreme Block Party Expo: This free event is taking place at the Libertyville Sports Complex, at the corner of Route 45 and Peterson Road in the Northwest suburb, on Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. On site will be more than 100 local vendors covering such topics as home improvement, self improvement, financial and community groups. There will also be kid’s activities, food samples, giveaways, a health and wellness fair and more.
Neighborhoods of the World: This Sunday, April 15 the last free weekly performance honoring Chicago’s ethnic neighborhoods at Navy Pier’s Crystal Gardens, 600 E. Grand, Chicago. This Sunday’s event, Germania on the Pier, focuses on the German community and offers an afternoon of music, dance, ethnic cuisine, folk art and more. The event, set for noon to 5 p.m., is presented in partnership with DANK-Haus German American Cultural Center and the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce.

CHIRP Record Fair & Other Delights: This vinyl venue is a benefit for CHIRP Radio, Chicago’s source for local, independent music. Even if you aren’t into record albums, you might like the artwork, crafts, giveaways and raffles, photo booth, food, kid’s area and more. Event is set for Plumbers Hall, 1340 W. Washington Blvd., Chicago, on Saturday, April 14 from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and Sunday, April 15 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $7, or say “Happy Birthday Chicago” and pay $5.
Race to Wrigley 5k Run: This seventh annual Chicago Cubs Charities’ race, which starts and finishes at historic Wrigley Field and passes through the streets of the Lakeview neighborhood, raises funds for Children’s Memorial Hospital. There will be a limited amount of free parking in the Green Lot, located on Waveland Ave. just east of Clark St. Click the link to register or donate.
