Chicago Modern Home Tour Showcases Unique Chicago Real Estate

While most people may be visiting haunted houses this October, a number of others are gearing up for tours of a different kind of Chicago real estate during the Chicago Modern Home tour. Held on Saturday, October 5 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., this tour features a glimpse into some of the most stunning private homes in the Chicago area.
Here is a look at some of the homes tourists will be able to peek into for a day:
modern Chicago real estate
This gorgeous 8,200-square foot house was built by Thomas Roszak in 2002, and contains five bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. It sits on a one-acre lot, and was built to “experiment with transparency and reflectivity, removing borders and edges from outside to inside the house, and to really depict flowing and endless space.” Unfortunately, the top level will not be open to the public, but viewers will still be able to enjoy the vast windows, sleek décor and open feeling of the downstairs.

The next house on the tour was built by Filoralma Talsma in 2008.

This four bedroom, 4,400 square foot home can be found in Southport Corridor. Listed at 1,649,800, it is made with “a combination of natural stones, Douglas fir ceilings and wide plank oak floors,” and even features a catwalk to the master bedroom that hangs over the main area. With a home theater, exercise room, and four outdoor decks, this home is not to be missed.
These homes are just two examples of the six different properties that will be open for touring on October 5. Tickets can be purchased in advance online for $30 or for $40 on the day of the tour at any of the will call locations. Children ages 12 and under may tour the homes for free.
