Celebrate Sustainability in Aurora

Aurora Green FestIf you’re a resident of Aurora and want to become more eco-friendly this spring, be sure to check out these happenings that are a part of the Aurora Green Fest, a celebration of local sustainability.
Here’s a rundown of the upcoming events:
Earth Hour
When: March 23, from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Where: Culture Shock, 43 E. Galena Blvd., Aurora
Enjoy family-friendly activities such as live music and storytelling—in the dark. Lights will be turned out for the occasion, which aims to raise awareness about energy consumption.
Recycled Art Workshop
When: April 21, from 1:30 to 4:30 p.m.
Where: Aurora Public Library, West Branch, 233 S. Constitution Dr.
Bring the entire family and create art from discarded, found and recycled items. Stand-out pieces will be displayed at the Aurora Greenfest.
Fourth Annual Aurora Green Fest
When: June 8, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Where: Prisco Community Center, 150 W Illinois Ave.
Plan on doing some spring cleaning? Then you’ll be pleased to learn that this event will host a recycling extravaganza for computers and electronics, cell phones, Styrofoam and fluorescent light bulbs. Attendees can also enjoy live music, environmental education and learn more about the latest sustainable living solutions.
