Several Chicago Suburbs Are Some of the Safest Towns in the U.S.

Police Officer PhotoMore and more Chicagoland neighborhoods and suburbs keep popping up in the news. Recently, Old Town and Logan Square were ranked as some of the ‘hottest’ neighborhoods in the country. Then Businessweek and Bloomberg News gave a major nod to Geneva, Ill. and St. John, Ind. as some of the best places to raise kids.
Now, Bartlett, Ill. has been voted as the fourth safest town in the U.S., according to NeighborhoodScout, a website that provides crime and school reports for U.S. cities. The odds of becoming a victim of a crime in Bartlett are 1 in 135, a drastic difference from the national average of 1 in 30. Another reason for Bartlett’s high score is the town’s vigilant and progressive police department.
Bartlett is about 45 minutes from Chicago, and the community prides itself on having a strong community feel.
Curious as to whether any other Chicago suburbs made the safest towns list? Here’s the run down:

  • Hoffman Estates-9th place
  • Buffalo Grove-35th place
  • Mundelein-52nd place
  • Hanover Park-57th place
  • Mount Prospect-58th place
  • Palatine-68th place
  • West Chicago-75th place
  • Carol Stream-75th place

It will certainly be exciting to see what other Chicago neighborhoods and suburbs rank on the 2013 ‘best of’ lists during the next few months.
