Give An Old Dresser a Fresh Makeover

Chicago interior design tipsIf you can’t bear to throw away that old dresser you’ve been hanging onto for a few years, why not give it a facelift instead?
Here are some great tips on how to freshen up an old chest of drawers.

  • Update your drawer pulls. Metallic drawer pulls can add some much needed flair or consider pulls made out of non-traditional materials, such as fabric or glass.
  • Transform your dresser into a media console. Maybe your dresser no longer fits in with the theme of your bedroom, but that doesn’t mean you have to get rid of it altogether. Most removable drawers can easily be turned into shelves.
  • Give stenciling a try. You can either update your dresser with unique patterns, positive quotes or even monogrammed initials. Royal Design Studio is a great place to find stencil selections.
  • Turn an old dresser into a kitchen cart. Start the transformation by repainting and refinishing an old dresser so that it blends in with your kitchen décor. You can then add a paper towel to one side of the dresser and increase your storage space by adding plenty of drawer organizers.

A dresser makeover is a great rainy day project—it’s budget-friendly, family friendly and perfect for giving your home a mini-update just in time for spring!
